Acclaimed internationally since winning the Tchaikovsky Competiton, Peter Donohoe has a unique and cherished position in British musical life. His repertoire is spectacularly wide-ranging and he is renowned for his insight into Russian and French composers. He has just recorded the Complete Piano Sonatas of Mozart and this carefully constructed programme also features a spectacular piece by Olivier Messiaen – who was filmed by the BBC in 1973 walking in woods near Lower Machen notating birdsong with his wife and muse Yvonne Loriod, one of Donohoe’s teachers.
